David S. Elliott, Sr., Ph.D.
David founded Virginia Analytics after a 15-year career as a financial controller for large corporations and non-profit organizations. He served as Chief Financial Officer for the world’s largest private sector port, as well as for multinational corporations, warehousing companies, and domestic rail and trucking firms, where he managed budgets, financial reporting, and operational processes. David also held positions as director and controller for multiple 501(c) organizations, ensuring their financial stability and compliance with regulations. With more than a decade of experience in regulatory compliance, he wrote his Ph.D. dissertation at Clemson University on regulatory focus theory (sometimes referred to as “promotion/prevention” theory), exploring its applications in constrained organizational settings such as finance, healthcare, and defense. David has advanced skills in data manipulation (working in R & Python) and specializes in structural equation modeling. In addition to a Ph.D., he holds four other graduate degrees. His research interests also include psychological contract and dark psychology. David is a United States Marine Corps veteran and served in Afghanistan and Iraq.
